Reverend Joe Louis Banks was the son of the late Reverend Willie
Banks and the late Mrs. Willie Lee Parker-Banks of Bamberg, South

participated in any and all ministries.
At the age of four, Reverend Banks began singing with his Dad and
older brothers in a quartet group known as the Amazing Singing Sons
of Bamberg, South Carolina. With the help of God and training by his
father and older brothers, Reverend Banks traveled to many cities and
local towns, singing praises to God. As an adult, Reverend Banks has
been invited to many cities to share his anointed voice. In 2006 through 2008, he was invited to
Shekinah Glory Tabernacle in Atlanta, Georgia, to lead praise and worship during their Men’s
Retreats, guest psalmist at the John P. Kee Victory in Praise Conference in Charlotte, North
Carolina and participated in the first ever Gospel Focus Music Search, traveling to cities such as
Durham, North Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia and Cleveland, Ohio at the semi-finals.
Reverend Banks was a graduate of Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School Class of 1987. For ten years,
he was employed at Kilgus Printing Company in Bamberg. During his employment there, Mr. Carl
and Mrs. Betty Kilgus made him feel like a part of their family. He was also employed at the Board
of Public Works in Bamberg for twenty-five years, having recently retired in February 2025. During
his years of employment at BPW, Reverend Banks gained many friends and loyal co-workers. He
loved his job, and most importantly, he loved serving the people in the City of Bamberg. Reverend
Banks never met a stranger and was always around town laughing and enjoying the citizens of
Bamberg, as he was performing his duties. His love for his hometown and alma mater is
unmatched.
Reverend Banks grew up as an active member of the Capernaum Baptist Church, Denmark, South
Carolina, under the leadership of the late Reverend N. A. McNeal. On April 21, 1997, he was
ordained as Deacon. While at Capernaum; he sang in the choirs, taught the teenage Sunday
school classes and worked in many other capacities. In March 2010, Reverend Banks returned to
his roots at Capernaum Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Clary Green.
Upon returning, he answered the call, and on April 25, 2010, Reverend Banks was licensed at the
Capernaum Baptist Church by his Pastor, the late Reverend Clary Green. On June 21, 2010,
Reverend Banks was ordained by the Bethlehem Baptist Association at Capernaum Baptist
Church, Denmark, South Carolina. On August 22, 2011, Reverend Banks was officially installed as
the pastor of St. John Baptist Church in Bamberg, South Carolina. On September 10, 2017,

Reverend Banks was officially installed as pastor of the Jordan Baptist Church, Barnwell, South
Carolina. Though it broke his heart, due to health issues; Reverend Banks resigned from Jordan
Baptist Church on June 16, 2024. When Reverend Banks answered the call to preach the Gospel,
he was invited to many churches in the surrounding area, and many cities throughout South
Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia and Washington, D.C. to preach revivals. Reverend Banks was enrolled
as a student at the W. L. Bonner Bible College in Columbia, South Carolina, majoring in Pastoral
Counseling.
On February 8, 1992, Reverend Banks was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jennifer
Felder-Banks. This union was blessed with one son, Jorell Morgan Banks. One of his greatest and
proudest moments was on May 8, 2025, when Jorell graduated from Clemson University.
