Reflection of Life

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

2 Timothy 4:7

Ms. Lori Ann Hampton, daughter of the late Matthew “Boot” Hampton and Annie Louise Hampton, was born December 18, 1960 in Charleston County, SC.  Lori gained her wings on November 4, 2024.

Lori was educated in the public schools of Denmark-Olar School District 2, and was a 1977 graduate of Denmark-Olar High School. She furthered her education at Saint Augustine’s College, Raleigh, NC, now known as Saint Augustine’s University. She graduated in 1981 with a degree in History and Government. While at Saint Augustine, Lori pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Gamma Rho Chapter, in the Spring of 1981. She was a true Delta Girl! The bond she shared with her sorors lasted a lifetime.

Lori had a penchant for gab and a love for people. Because she was such a social butterfly, after graduation, Lori spent three years in St. Louis, MO working as an Insurance Agent. She found her niche. Being an adventurer at heart, she moved to Atlanta, GA where she continued her career in insurance with Blue Cross/Blue Shield and later spent 4 years in Patterson, NJ with Mutual of Omaha, where she was their Number One Insurance Agent. Her love for people and her affinity for talking  took her to the top in insurance sales. She was highly regarded by her subordinates, clients, and peers. She moved back to South Carolina with the desire to become an entrepreneur. She was the proud Business Owner of Studio 124, Music and More in Orangeburg, SC and LT’s Quick Stop Convenient Store in Denmark, SC. She also was employed   with Voorhees College (University) for a brief period before relocating to Columbia, SC. She was employed by Envision Food Services, Fort Jackson, SC, and remained there until her health failed.

Lori loved the Lord with all of her heart. Her life was full and rewarding.  She was a woman who possessed a bright smile and a big heart filled with motherly love for her nieces and nephews. She loved them immensely, and they adored her.

Lori shared with her family these words:

“The real journey began in 2016 when I found out I had cancer. But, the diagnosis would not keep me from living. In the end, God reinstated me to rejoin my church home, Rome Baptist Church, and become a servant  of the Lord for the rest of my days” ...And, she did just that.

Lori was preceded in death by her parents.

Lori leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, three sisters; Betty Duncan and Anna Chappelle of Denmark, SC; and Joyce Hampton of Ulmer, SC, and four brothers; Ray Hampton, Elijah Hampton, Samuel (Carmell) Hampton, all of Denmark, SC, and Larry (Elizabeth) Hampton of Blackville, SC; Three aunts; Joan A. (James) Coleman, and Barbara A. (Danny) Davis of Denmark, SC, Jacqueline Atterberry (Rene`) of Ehrhardt, SC; Two uncles; Eugene (Sandy) Atterberry and Robert (Georgia) Atterberry of Denmark, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.  While ill, Lori was cared for by her family, extended family, and close friends.  Lori leaves a legacy of hope, faith, and love to all who knew and loved her.
