Gregory Bernard "Gleek" Thompson was born on August 8, G 1903 in Stamford, Connecticut to Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson and the late Deacon Willie James Thompson. On Friday, August 11, 2023, God called him home to Heaven.
Gregory resided in Stamford, Connecticut, and later moved to Denmark, South Carolina. He attended Denmark-Olar High School and graduated in 1981. While at Denmark-Olar, he was a member of the band and played on the basketball team. In 1981, he went on to attend South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Gregory was the only one to get the band scholarship to South Carolina State and was a member of the Marching 101 Band.
Gregory enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for five years. He was a Chef and loved to cook for his family and friends. He loved to listen to music, enjoyed grilling, relaxing, and talking to his friends on the telephone. He loved and cherished his family, and he loved his fiancé, Sharon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Deacon Willie James Thompson and his brother, Mark Steven Thompson, He leaves to cherish his memory - his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson of Raleigh, NC; his sister, Beverly Thompson of Raleigh, NC; brother, Michael Oliver of Swansea, SC; one nephew, Mark Thompson of Louisburg, NC; one sister-in-law; his fiancé, Sharon Pickens-Marshall of Greer, SC; two bonus daughters: Neisha and Nequa Marshall of Greer, SC; two uncles:
Frank Walters (Martha) of St. Pauls, NC and Michael Walters of Fairmont, NC; three aunts: Ernestine Perdue of Denmark, SC, Addie Gant of Bridgeport, CT, and Sally Crump (Horace) of Raleigh, NC and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
